Today's Issues

With property values decreasing and lower sales tax revenue, Hall County is looking at a fiscal crisis.  As a commission, we need to ensure that the revenue burden is not passed along.  We need to ensure that the community receives full value for the taxes received.
We need leaders with an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset.  We need leaders that have made the difficult decisions for their constituents.
Experience makes a difference
As a city council member for Flowery Branch and a Senior Program manager for a Fortune 10 company, Craig Lutz has developed and been held accountable to budgets.  While the budget for the City of Flowery Branch may seem small when compared to the County or even to his normal job, the margin for error was much smaller due to the small revenue stream.  We need a commissioner that is concerned with the details.

We need a commissioner whose priorities are the same as your priorities.

Statement Principles

Small Government.
I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least.
Low Taxes.
I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
Quality and planned growth.
I BELIEVE that government should listen to the vision that the people desire, enable an environment where people can develop within the framework of the vision, and ensure that rights of the property owners are protected.

Current Issues

County refuses to work with Municipalities. As demonstrated with the county's decision to move the library from Clermont, the county has shown that they are not interested in a partnership with the cities.  The county should be taking a leadership role in working with the cities to improve sewer, water and transportation issues.
County sees SPLOST as their own personal checking account. In ignoring the will of the people, the county has made promises that they refuse to keep: Clermont Library, Park in South Hall, improved intersections on McEver road.  It is time to vote for someone that will bring accountability back to the office.

Keeping the Promise

Ethics, Our commissioners would prefer to work under rules that prevent the citizens from understanding the business relationships between each other and key employees.  We have seen how the lack of transparency has clouded votes in an air of potentially unethical and perhaps illegal behavior.

When elected to office, I will work to establish more stringent ethical standards that will require commissioners to fully disclose the nature of all relationships with each other.  As a 15 year employee with a Fortune 10 company, my

Holding the commission accountable, We have all heard the promises for SPLOST: parks, transportation improvements, fair and reasonable sewer rates.  The direction this commission is on has taken us away from the promises that were made to the voters.

It is time to bring someone onto the commission that will hold the others accountable.  So let get out on November 2nd and Lutz Do It!
